She was an apprentice for An American Place, a restaurant located in the city of New York for one year. However, Guarnaschelli's cooking experience began when she watched her mother test numerous recipes at home, while she was editing cookbooks. Following her time at Larry Forgione in New York as well as France, Los Angeles she also worked in Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. Guarnaschelli eventually became the head chef at Butter. Guarnaschelli participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America in 2007. She took on Cat Cora at the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 and was the winner. She is now an Iron Chef America judge. She was also a contestant on The Next Iron Chef in Season 4 of the show in 2011. She was eliminated from the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast.
